jarmels The Jarmels – “A Little Bit of Soap”

Up until right now I wasn’t aware that the Jarmels were the first to perform this song, being more familiar with the Exciters’ stab at it (sampledby Prince Paul for De La Soul’s Three Feet High and Rising LP). Regardless, both groups pull it off beautifully. This is probably the most well-known of the Jarmels’ hits, but I maintain that it’s one of the catchiest songs ever written — a personal favourite. This is my not-so-covert attempt to convert the masses to the lush beauty that is 1950s and 1960s vocal groups.  Actually, it’s the first of many.  Just act surprised, ok?
